QUICK GAMEPLAY THOUGHTS: JAN 29

Hey there, tacticians! The TFT team is fired up to portion similar to you what went on at the back the scenes during the making of arenas for Fates: Festival of Beasts. From concept to execution, set 4.5 pushed the boundaries of what we can attain in TFT arenas. And of course, bearing in mind that objective came some unique challenges for air artists, composers, and VFX artists alike. next the results, we hope to have opened going on a amassed supplementary realm of possibilities for how you every experience a game of TFT. keep upon reading for the full story!

Lets acquire into it! Heres Gino to introduce you to the concepts for 4.5 arenas.

Concept Design

Going into set 4.5, we knew we wanted to celebrate the Lunar supplementary Year subsequent to players. To attain that, we had to make it a fun experience even though surviving real to the traditions of the celebration. For a while we played as soon as some standard explorations of the theme, but we wouldnt be TFT if we didnt push it further. We took original dome concepts for a throne room and river village and dialed those happening to 11. The throne room became a Chinese-inspired club (with our own adorable DJ), and the river village became a rooftop parade celebration, unchangeable later than hologram projections. The team was hyped just about the idea; we knew this was the government we wanted to go.

Our next-door challenge was to convey all of our grand ideas though nevertheless long-suffering TFTs gameplay needs. The club needed to tone gone a club upon both PC and mobile, and the thesame went for the rooftop parade. This meant that any visual elements needed to be visible and interactive upon all platforms without getting in the pretentiousness of all important, following items.

We furthermore had to be utterly thoughtful later our use of cultural art and symbols. Communication and collaboration became our strongest assets at this point. Shoutout to all of my cultural consultants, coworkers who were familiar later the Lunar additional Year tradition, who gave unquestionably valuable feedback approximately what would resonate taking into account every of youplayers. Thanks to multipart rounds of feedback and iteration, as without difficulty as the lovely triumph by our environment artists, VFX artists, SFX artists, and animators, we ended happening following two good boards that I am burning to see released into the world!

I wish you enjoy what weve made for set 4.5, and similar to that Ill hand things off to Jeremy upon tone art!

Environment Art

Thanks, Gino! As usual, the vibes artists were supreme lovely art from the concept team to affect with, and our first challenge was to bring those images to energy in a 3D space. This included creating our first indoor arena, Club 2! with the previous finishing of our skyboxes and vistas, we were faced subsequently the unique challenge of creating that thesame parallax in an indoor environment. We approved that by addendum large windows to the Club, we could showcase a huge city in the distance, fixed taking into account a fireworks celebration. exceeding that, we extra a delectable DJ Ox and concert stage and we were starting to truly hit the vibe of Lunar supplementary Year. For that iconic TFT approach of fun, we further tiny human touches in the manner of tables of food, disco balls, and confetti cannons.

Samira Build

For the Lunar City Arena, we wanted to create a enlightened facade upon top of an ancient town. We after that knew we needed water nearly the rooftop for directionless boats that would emanate holograms. To reach this, we worked gone tech art to make a water shader and used a couple of easy textures to feat as reflections.

As a definite fun fact: this mid-set is after that the first get older weve introduced foreground elements to our arenas! In Club 2, we created a balcony overlooking the dance floor, and for Lunar City we created some advocate pagoda-style buildings
